BC heat pump rebates generally require three things in order: an eligible system installed by a registered contractor, documentation from that install, and an application filed within the program's deadline. Some programs require a pre-install step such as an energy assessment, which cannot be added retroactively. Confirm the current requirements before booking the work, not after.
The order that matters
The single most common reason a rebate is refused is a step taken out of sequence. Check the program requirements first, every time, because thresholds and rules change between program years.
- Confirm current program rules and efficiency thresholds
- Complete any required pre-install assessment before work begins
- Have the system installed by a contractor registered with the program
- Keep the itemised invoice, model and serial numbers, and permit records
- Submit within the deadline, which is usually counted from the install date
What usually disqualifies a claim
Equipment below the efficiency threshold, an unregistered installer, a missing pre-install assessment, an invoice that does not itemise the equipment, or a late application. None of these can be corrected after the fact.
What we can and cannot do
We can supply the documentation your claim needs: itemised invoice, model and serial numbers, efficiency ratings, and permit records. We cannot guarantee approval, because eligibility is decided by the program, not the contractor. Anyone promising a guaranteed rebate is guessing.
We supply the paperwork rebate programs ask for as standard on heat pump installs, and we will tell you before you buy if the equipment you are considering sits under the current threshold.
