BC Heat Pump & HVAC Rebates You Can Stack

CleanBC, BC Hydro & FortisBC rebates explained — up to $16,000 toward a heat pump conversion. Big Valley Heating & Sheet Metal Ltd handles the paperwork with you.

BC homeowners can combine provincial and utility rebates — CleanBC, BC Hydro, and FortisBC — to bring down the cost of a heat pump conversion, a high-efficiency water heater, or even routine gas-equipment maintenance. Programs, amounts, and eligibility change through the year, and most require the work be done by a qualifying contractor. Here's what's available right now and how we help you claim it.

Current rebate programs

CleanBC up to $16,000

CleanBC Income-Qualified Heat Pump Rebate

The largest rebate available to BC homeowners — for switching a gas, oil, or propane heating system to an electric heat pump. Rebate tiers depend on household income, and installation must be done by a qualifying contractor.

Good for: Switching from gas, oil, or propane to a heat pump

BC Hydro up to $4,000

BC Hydro Heat Pump Rebate

For homes heated with electric baseboards or an electric furnace, BC Hydro rebates a switch to an energy-efficient heat pump — lowering both your bills and your home's peak electrical load.

Good for: Switching from electric baseboard or furnace heat

CleanBC up to $2,000

Multi-Upgrade Bonus

Complete two or more eligible efficiency upgrades together — for example a heat pump plus a heat pump water heater — and stack a bonus on top of the individual rebates.

Good for: Combining two or more eligible upgrades

CleanBC / BC Hydro up to $1,000

Heat Pump Water Heater Rebate

High-efficiency electric water heating uses a fraction of the energy of a conventional tank. Rebates apply when replacing an existing gas or electric water heater with a qualifying heat pump model.

Good for: Replacing a gas or electric water heater

FortisBC up to $150

FortisBC Appliance Maintenance Rebate

Annual servicing of gas equipment by a licensed contractor keeps it running safely and efficiently — and FortisBC offers a rebate toward that maintenance visit.

Good for: Annual licensed service of gas equipment

Amounts shown are program maximums as of July 2026; actual rebates depend on your home, income tier (for CleanBC), and current program rules. We confirm exact eligibility before any work begins — no surprises.
