Your ducts are half your HVAC system. The most efficient furnace or heat pump on the market can't overcome undersized trunks, leaky joints, or a botched transition — the ductwork sets the ceiling on comfort, efficiency, and noise. Custom-fabricated sheet metal means the ducts are made to fit your house, instead of your house making do with stock parts.
What goes wrong with off-the-shelf duct installs?
The failure modes show up in every home inspection we do:
- Stock fittings forced into non-stock spaces, creating turbulence and pressure loss at every kink
- Leaky joints quietly dumping heated air into crawlspaces and attics
- Undersized returns that starve the blower — the #1 cause of 'my new system is louder than the old one'
- Flex duct runs crushed or sagging where rigid metal should have been fabricated to fit
What does in-house fabrication change?
When the shop is ours, the measurements from your mechanical room become parts the same week — plenums, transitions, offsets, and custom fittings built to the job instead of approximated from a catalogue. It's the difference between a system that hits its rated airflow and one that never will.
It also matters at repair time: odd-sized parts for older Fraser Valley homes don't exist in a catalogue at all. We just make them.
When should you have your ductwork evaluated?
Any time you replace major equipment (new equipment on bad ducts wastes the upgrade), any time rooms heat or cool unevenly, and any time a system seems loud, weak, or dusty despite service. Duct problems masquerade as equipment problems constantly.
