What Is Service Call Fee?

A service call fee is the flat charge an HVAC company bills to send a technician to your home and diagnose a problem. It typically covers travel and the diagnostic inspection, sometimes for a set number of appliances, while the repair itself is quoted separately for your approval. Rates commonly vary by distance and equipment type.

Why it matters to you

Big Valley publishes its call-out rates by region, from Maple Ridge / Pitt Meadows out to Abbotsford / Surrey to 50th Ave, and every service call includes the first appliance, so you know the diagnostic cost before the technician arrives.

Practical guidance

When booking, confirm which region rate applies to your address and whether the call is for a furnace, an A/C or heat pump, or a geothermal or rooftop unit, since the rate differs. Ask for the repair to be quoted before any work begins.
